报告题目TitleDissolution Mechanism of Pt in Sulphuric Acid Solution in Relevance to Fuel Cell Cathode Catalyst

报告内容Abstract

The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is expected to be used for both stationary and automotive applications in near future. PEMFC technology is already well known; however, there is a concern regarding the loss of performance mainly due to the loss of the electrochemical active surface area (ECA) of the Pt catalyst at the cathode. The reason for this ECA loss and the potential range where this loss occurs is not yet completely understood. It is estimated that a PEMFC may undergo as many as 300,000 load cycles and about 30,000 ON–OFF cycles over the fuel cell vehicle life time. Therefore, detailed explanation of the performance loss of the Pt catalyst under PEMFC operating conditions is required for its commercialization. Extensive research has been conducted to clarify the ECA loss of Pt under conditions simulating that of an operating PEMFC, such as using aqueous electrolyte because it is not possible in assembled PEMFCs. It is now well known that potential cycling leads to accelerated Pt dissolution. However, the relationship between dissolution and ECA loss is not yet clarified. In this talk, dissolution of Pt under potentiostatic and potential cycling condition will be discussed and the effect of various potentials ranges and pH will be discussed to clarify the dissolution mechanism of Pt in acidic medium.

 

报告人简介:

  Amar Prasad Yadav现为尼泊尔Tribhuvan University大学的副教授,尼泊尔化学会常务秘书。Yadav副教授于2003年在日本东京工业大学Tokyo Institute of Technology取得博士学位,先后于德国马普协会Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research和东京工业大学进行博士后研究工作,长期从事聚合物电解质燃料电池、金属腐蚀机理的研究,先后发表SCI引用文章40多篇,专著4部,合著6部。

·      Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) award for Visiting Fellow (2013-2014)

·      JSPS (Japan) award for Visiting Professor at TITech, 2012.

·      MANA Guest Researcher, Tsukuba, Japan (2011, 2012, 2013).

·      NEDO award for doing Fuel cell research, Japanese government, 2006.

·      Japanese government fellowship (MONBUSHO) for PhD study, 2000-2003.

·      UNESCO fellowship for doing diploma in Tokyo Institute of Technology, 1998-1999.

·      Nepalese Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Award to carry out Master’s thesis, 1995.

·      First among Physical chemistry students, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, 1995.
